また、最近はテキストベースのSNSも増えてきましたが、(Twitter Xは殺伐とした雰囲気が苦手で…) くだらない雑談や日常のつぶやき、昔話などを気軽に投稿するには、 少しばかり抵抗がありました。 そこで、メルマガで告知をしつつ、作品の背景や制作秘話などを共有することで、 コレクターの方々や若い作家さんにも楽しんでいただけるのではないかと考えました。 (娘が将来、私の活動に興味を持った時に読めるような記録を残したいという思いもあります。)

メルマガでは、個展やグループ展の報告、企画などを中心に発信していく予定です。 その他、雑談として、以下のようなテーマも考えています。

【Starting My Email Newsletter!】

Hello everyone, this is Toshiyuki Maeda.

In April, I decided to start an email newsletter, something I've been wanting to do for a while.

The idea came about after some collectors mentioned on social media that they sometimes missed exhibition and event announcements on Instagram. To ensure that everyone gets the information they need, I decided to broaden my communication channels by launching this newsletter.

While there's been a rise in text-based social media platforms lately (Twitter/X's intense atmosphere isn't really my thing), I've found it a bit difficult to casually share random thoughts, daily musings, or old stories.

With this newsletter, I aim to provide updates and announcements while also sharing insights into my work's background and behind-the-scenes stories. I hope this will be enjoyable for collectors and aspiring artists alike. (Plus, I'd love to leave a record for my daughter to read when she becomes interested in my work in the future.)

In the newsletter, I'll mainly focus on sharing reports from solo and group exhibitions, event plans, and other related news. I'm also planning to include casual discussions on topics like:

• How bears came to feature in my artworks

• Episodes from my time at Kaikai Kiki (within reasonable limits)

I'm also considering sharing exclusive content for newsletter subscribers, such as sketches and photos of my artworks.

I hope to create a newsletter that not only provides announcements but also gives you a deeper understanding of me as a person and the stories behind my creations. (I'll make sure to use clear subject lines for those who only want to receive announcements.)

This has become quite lengthy, but I'd like to share a wide range of topics within my comfort zone.
